17th Place Finish Highlights Double Header Weekend in Chico & Placerville For Seth Standley!

By: Fast Time Media

5/14/24… Chico, California: Friday & Saturday Night, it was a big double header weekend in Northern California. Two nights of 360 action would begin in Chico on Friday & ended in Placerville on Saturday Night.

Friday Night started out in time trials. He would be the 9th car out to time in during his group. Seth wouldn’t get the lap that he wanted as he laid down a time of 12.223 which would only time Seth in 17th quickest in the group.

That set him up to start deep in the heat race as he rolled off from 9th. Starting deep, he went to work but was only able to gain one spot & finish 8th. Going into the B-main, Seth started 10th but quickly started to move forward. He was able to get into the 4th & final transfer spot & make the feature.

“We got off to a bad start by going 15th quick in qualifying. This put me starting 9th in the heat race. It was a tough track to pass on, so I ended up only passing one car and finishing 8th. This put me starting 10th in the B main. I knew I had some work to do to be able to put it in the show, so I quickly got to work & ended up 4th.”

Heading into the feature, Seth started in the 24th & final transfer spot. Early on, Seth wasn’t able to get into a rhythm as there were a handful of cautions. After keeping the car out of trouble, the race finally got into a green flag run & Seth found himself in 20th. He struggled to move forwards & ended up finishing in the 17th spot.

“I ran good at the start of the race and found myself in around the 20th spot after just a few laps, but there were so many wrecks & cautions at the beginning of the race that made it a lot harder to move forward. Once we were finally able to get some green flag laps in, I struggled to pass cars and with all the cars that wrecked out I ended up 17th.”

Coming off a solid night on Saturday, Seth was in action in Placerville. He started the night out by being the very first car out in his group. Unfortunately, he would get over the cushion both laps in qualifying & ended up 16th quick in the group.

That set him up to start his heat race in 8th. Seth quickly went to work & began to move forward. He was fast in the heat race, & moved forward. Unfortunately, he ran out of time & came up one spot short of transferring to the feature as he finished the heat race in 5th.

“I had another bad start to the night in Placerville, by blowing it off the track in 1 and 2 both laps in qualifying. This put me starting 8th in the heat race. I had a car to transfer straight to the show with, but unfortunately I ended up one spot short in 5th.”

Missing the transfer to the feature, Seth rolled off from 6th in the B-main. He got a great start & found himself in 3rd on lap one but a caution came out. A few starts later, the front row cars got together & left Seth nowhere to go. He suffered enough damage to bring his night to an end.

“I started 6th in the B Main, & had a good start. I found myself in 3rd after the first corner but a caution came out. A few starts later the front row cars got together entering 1 & I had no where to go. It tore out the entire front end & broke the right rear torsion arm, which cut our night short.”

It wasn’t the ending to the weekend that Seth wanted, but there were definitely some positive takeaway. They were fast both nights & continue to improve against the toughest 360 competition in California.

Seth would like to thank his sponsors; SALCO Better Energy, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Yuba City Scrap and Steel.
