AJ Bender 12th at Mohave Valley Raceway!

10/16/23… Bullhead City, Arizona: Saturday Night, AJ Bender was back in action with the USAC CRA Sprint Cars at Mohave Valley Raceway. It would be his first race of the seaaon back in the DRC Chassis as he looked for a good run on Saturday Night.

“Not the weekend we wanted with results but It was a good shakedown of the new car. Fought some little bugs throughout the night.”

They would battle to get the car comfortable for AJ throughout the night. AJ would go out for qualifying & looked to have a good lap. He ended up timing in 13th quick out of 27 cars.

AJ would start his heat race from the outside of the front row but would fall backwards. After starting 2nd, AJ began to slip. He would try & keep it up front, but would end up falling back to 5th where he finished. That sent AJ to the B-main where he’d hold on to grab the 6th & final transfer spot.

”Ended up timing in 13th quick. Went backwards in the heat race finishing 5th after starting 2nd. Had to go to the b main and transferred out of that.”

He would start the feature in the 13th spot & quickly went to move forward. Unfortunately, while gaining spots, he would make contact with a spinning car & have to go to the back. AJ would begin moving forward, and despite some issues would finish in the 12th position.

“Started 13th and was going forward until I got taken out by a spinning car. Started in the back and was moving forward but lost the brakes shortly after & finished 12th. Like I said wasn’t a good results night but I felt really comfortable & see a lot of potential in this new car.“

It was a solid night for AJ & his team as they are figuring out the new car. He had some good speed & got better every time he hit the track. The season is coming to an end & AJ will look to end it on a strong note.
