4/24/23... Vado, New Mexico: Saturday Night, Austin Ervine would return to action after a few weeks off of racing. He would be in action with the Sunset Grill POWRi Non Winged 360 Sprint Cars. Ten Non Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in action ready to roll on Saturday.
The night started out with heat races as they wouldn't do qualifying. Austin would roll off from 8th in his heat race. He would battle forward from the back & try and gain as many spots as possible. He would end up gaining three spots & finishing 5th from 8th.
His heat race results would line him up on the inside of row two in the 3rd spot. Early on Austin would start to fall backwards. He would miss the setup in the feature event & would struggle to adapt on the track.
As the race got going, he would continue to try & change up his line & get going. He would still battle hard & try to grab a solid finish. When the checkered flag fell on the feature event, Austin would come home with a solid 7th place finish.
"I went 8th to 5th in the heat race. Lined up 3rd for the main but just kept falling back & finished 7th. I missed the set up but that’s not an excuse. I failed to adapt and make the car work."
Overall it was a good night for Austin despite all of the issues to begin the night. They almost didn't make it to the track as two of their trailer tires would blow. Despite that, Austin would still manage to bring home a 7th place finish.
