Bad Luck Ends Good Run in Placerville For Seth Standley!

By: Chris Santos

4/17/23... Placerville California: Saturday Night, Seth Standley & the 25S team would be back in action in Placerville for the third points race of the season. Another solid field of 20 Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in attendance & ready to roll on Saturday.

Seth would be the 5th of 20 cars to hit the track for single car qualifying. He would end up making mistakes on both laps, which would set him back. That would end up putting Seth 17th quick overall in qualifying.

"To start off the day, we were 5th car out for qualifying. I made a mistake on both laps in separate corners and didn’t get a good lap in, which put me 17th quick out of 20 cars."

That would line Seth up on the outside of row three in the 6th spot for his heat race. On the initial start, his nose wing would fall down & make it really hard to drive. He would end up going from 6th-7th in the heat race.

"I started 3rd row outside in the heat, and before we went green my nose wing fell off which made it hard to drive, where i would go from 6th and finish 7th."

In the feature event, Seth would start on the inside of row nine in the 17th spot. Starting 17th, Evan would get rolling early. He would gain a few spots & looked fast early on. Unfortunately, on an ensuing restart Seth would rip the top in 1&2. In 3&4 he would look to rip the top but a car would come to a stop. It would leave him nowhere to go. His right front would hit the slow cars left wheel, sending him wheelying down the front stretch. When the front end set down, his front axle would bend & end his night.

"In the feature, I started 9th row inside. It started off good, and I grabbed a few positions in the first few laps. On a restart, I went into 3 and 4 on the top and a car slowed in front of me and I had no where to go and hit his left rear with my right front, which caused me to wheelie down the front stretch," Seth continued. "When the front end set down, it broke both torsion bar stops and bent the front axle and the right front shock stud, which caused me to not continue."

It was a rough ending to a feature that was going really well for Seth. Every week he hits the track he gets better in Placerville. He will look to carry that speed into Saturday in Merced for the 2nd Sprint Car Challenge Tour race of the season.

Seth would like to thank his sponsors; SALCO Better Energy, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Yuba City Scrap and Steel.
