8/22/24… Burlington, Washington: Saturday Night, Bailey Jean returned to action at Skagit Speedway. After around a month out of action, she was ready to roll on Saturday Night as they get ready for a busy ending to the month of August.
Bailey started the night out with time trials where she’d be the 9th of 15 cars to hit the track. With a time of 12.222 she would end up timing in 10th quickest overall.
Bailey then started the heat race in the 5th spot. She would try some new things on the set up during the heat race. After starting 5th, Bailey would fall back a spot & ended up finishing her heat race in the 6th position.
“Qualifying felt great, I felt our car was very stable & I hit my marks. During our 410 break, they put new clay on & after qualifying we discovered we needed to change the gears in order to achieve the best RPMS. During the heat race, we tried out some new things on the car & it didn’t work out for us.”
Entering the feature, she was in a solid spot as Bailey rolled off from the 10th spot. Unfortunately after a hectic start, Bailey had to avoid a wreck & would lose a handful of spots. Trying to move forward, she’d gain a few spots & ended up finishing in the 12th position.
”Unfortunately on the initial green flag of the feature, the person in front of me did not go & caused a huge stoppage behind us. I was able to grab the brakes as hard as possible & avoid flipping the racecar, but that meant losing about 5 or 6 spots right away. I was very upset, but put my head down & salvaged a 12th place finish.”
Overall it was a solid night for Bailey as they were able to roll the car in the trailer with no damage. She was also able to get some very important laps before the High Limit Sprint Cars come into town at the end of the month.
