7/4/23… Burlington, Washington: Saturday Night, Bailey Jean would be back in local 410 Sprint Car action at Skagit Speedway. She would put together a solid night, that resulted in one of her best finishes of the 2023 race season.
Bailey started the night by timing in the Bailey Jean Racing #14B in 10th quickest overall. She would be the 7th of 13 Winged 410 Sprint Cars to hit the track for time trials. Bailey ended laying down a solid time & that put her 10th quickest.
“We started off qualifying 10th which was not great position wise but looking at the actual times we were super close to those ahead of us!“
Her qualifying time lined Bailey up on the inside of row three in the 5th spot. The track was very dry, dusty, and slick in the heat race. It would be tough to pass & Bailey would finish where she started in the 5th position.
“The heat race was uneventful the track was so dusty and slick no one really moved forward a ton, we started and finished 5th.”
A chaotic 30 lap feature event saw Bailey roll off from 10th starting spot. On lap one, Bailey avoided a wreck that saw cars flipping & spinning. As the race went on, she would have to roll the bottom for most of the race. She would end up salvaging a 9th place finish to end the night.
“In the feature, there was chaos from the start. I was able to avoid spinning & flipping cars on the first lap. After we got going the track was much different than we anticipated, thinking the officials were going to do some track work, we were not set up to run the bottom. I tried to salvage what I could and we ended up finishing 9th so we will take it & learn from here.”
