5/24/23... Burlington, Washington: Saturday Night, Bailey Jean would be in action at the 2023 410 Sprint Car season opener. She would kick the season off with a solid 10th place finish during the 2023 season opener.
She got the night started with qualifying, where she would be the 12th of 15 cars to hit the track. Going out late, the track had slowed down & Bailey would not get the lap she wanted. Bailey would end up going 14th quickest overall.
"The track was very tricky all night. We started off going out late in qualifying, resulting in 14th."
Bailey started her heat race from the 7th spot. It would be very tough to pass during heat race action. Starting deep, Bailey wouldn't be able to move forward, as she would end up finishing where she started in the 7th spot.
"My heat race was pretty one lane, on the bottom due to a huge hole going into turn 3. I started and finished 7th, knowing all would make it into the feature."
For the feature event, Bailey would roll off from the 12th spot. The track would be very tricky, as Bailey would move around trying to find something that worked. After avoiding some wrecks & trying to figure the track out, Bailey would move forward to 10th where she would finish.
"When it came down to the main event the track had a very small & technical “lip”. I wouldn’t even call it a cushion. After trying different lanes, adjusting to the track and just surviving the carnage, I was able to pick up a few spots and finish 10th!"
A 10th place finish would be a good way to kick off the 2023 race season for Bailey. She will be back in action on Saturday Night at Skagit Speedway for the second 410 points race of the 2023 race season.
