Bailey Jean Takes On High Limit Sprint Cars in Pacific Northwest!

By: Fast Time Media

9/5/24… Roseburg, Oregon: Over the past week, Bailey Jean would take on the High Limit Sprint Cars in Washington & Oregon. She kicked the week off at The Douglas County Dirt Track in Oregon, before heading to Grays Harbor Raceway & Skagit Speedway in Washington.

She kicked the week off at The Douglas County Dirt Track on Monday. Bailey went out & ended up timing in 16th quickest in Group B. That set Bailey up to lineup from 8th in the heat race, where she’d go on to gain a spot & finish in 7th.

That put Bailey in the B-main where she’d start on the outside of the 5th row. From 10th, Bailey would focus on staying out of trouble. She’d end up getting some solid laps under her belt & stay out of trouble, finishing the B-main in 9th.

“Going to a new track always gets my nerves pumped but I wanted to try something other than skagit. Unfortunately the track was very rough in turn 1 & 2 and we almost went upside down in qualifying. I knew I had 4 more races that week and I didn’t want to risk junking my car so I hung out in the back and just got some seat time.”

Bailey would be in action Wednesday Night at a familiar track as they made the trip to Grays Harbor Raceway. She started the night with a solid qualifying run & timed in 18th quickest overall in time trials.

That set Bailey up to roll off from 6th in the heat race. From there, she’d end up finishing 8th. Bailey then went out for the B-main & started in the 8th position. From 8th, Bailey fell back to the 11th position & finished the B-main there.

“Elma is usually is one of my favorite tracks to visit but this time was a big let down. Track conditions killed our tires & as a small team, that is one of our biggest costs. We did qualify well there but ultimately did not make the feature. I was glad to pack up & get home after those two nights.”

Entering Thursday at Skagit Speedway, Bailey would face a tough field of Sprint Cars. Thursday started with time trials where shed be one of the final cars out & time in 32nd quickest overall. From there she’d start & finish the heat race in 10th & finish the B-main in the 12th spot.

Friday went a little better as Bailey went out earlier in time trials & times in 31st quick. The heat race saw Bailey start & finish in the 8th position putting her in the B-main. She’s start the B-main in the 10th spot & also finish there.

Saturday Night there were no time trials & they jumped straight into heat race action. With stacked heat races, it was hard to move forward. Bailey started 8th & fell back to finish in 9th. That set her up with a deep starting spot for the B-main. Bailey started in the 17th spot & finished 16th, ending her weekend & her High Limit Swing.

“Skagit had a very tough group of cars & drivers. Each night we made strides & would move forward in our races. I had multiple people come & tell me how much better I looked Saturday vs Thursday so that is a positive.”

Racing against a series like the High Limit Sprint Cars is a different animal. Every time you hit the track you face some of the top drivers in the country. Bailey was able to hit the track each time, stay out of trouble, & for the most part move forward whenever she hit the track.

“High limit is one of - if not the toughest group of drivers to race against. It doesn’t matter if it’s a heat race, b main, or feature the drivers are ALWAYS on their game & I needed to step up. This weekend taught me though there is more to racing than the finishes. After seeing Chase Johnson’s wreck, & watching what he is going through just reminds me to stop & enjoy the small things.” Bailey continued, “I am grateful everyday that I get to race & learn as a driver. We have a lot of work to do in the offseason to upgrade our program in order to be competitive with high limit next year!”

Bailey would like to thank her sponsors: Art By Nature, Dunlap Industrial Hardware, Buzz Inn Granite Falls, James M Bass Trucking, Bickford Ford, AA Plumbing LLC, Esthetics By Kenny, Fred & Sharon Crabtree, & Grumpy’s Field Service.
