10/16/23… Hanford, California: Friday Night, Billy Aton was back in action after a few months off from racing. With his return, he would quickly have to get comfortable again as he looked to have a good night at Kings Speedway.
He would start the night out with time trials. Billy was the 13th car out & would end up timing in 16th quickest overall. That set Billy up to start the heat race from the 6th & final spot. Once the green fell, he was quickly able to make his way to 5th & finish the heat race there.
That lined Billy up in the 13th starting spot for the first of two twenty lap features. When the green fell on the first twin-20, Billy would quickly make his way forward. Grabbing one spot at a time, Billy would get into the top-10. He was able to make his way up to the 9th spot & finish the first feature there.
Going into the second twin-20, Billy would start in the 6th spot after they flipped the field. He would end up falling backwards in this feature, but not far as he’d hold off some really good drivers. When the checkered fell on the second feature, Billy would finish 8th.
It was a really good run for Billy in his return to action. As the night went on, it was clear that Billy was getting better & better every time he hit the track. Overall, he was able to finish both features in the top-10.
