By: Chris Santos

12/14/22… Fast Time Media: This season, Chance Grasty would hop in a Winged 360 Sprint Car for his first full season behind the wheel. From the jump, Chance showed his speed & talent behind the wheel & began to make a name for himself across the state of California.

His season would start out in Red Bluff for the 2021-2022 Red Bluff Outlaw Kart season. He would log a lot of laps but struggled early on to make the features. Chance would just narrowly miss a transfer a handful of times.

Chance would start his Winged 360 season in late May as he would make the trip to Placerville Speedway. He would unfortunately fail to make the feature, but showed he had a lot of speed in the 360, and showed he could contend with the best drivers in California.

Two weeks later he would make the trip to Silver Dollar Speedway for the Summer Nationals & the Tyler Wolf Memorial. He would impress against a strong field of Winged 360 Sprint Cars, as he would make the feature and bring home a 18th place finish out of 65 cars.

One of Chance’s best finishes of the year came just a few weeks later in Petaluma. He would make the trip to run with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on June 18th. The driver of the no. 1 Winged 360 Sprint Car would bring home his first top-10 finish as he would finish 7th.

His strong runs would continue in the month of July as he would bring home a pair of top-10 finishes in the month. On July 4th, Chance would return to Silver Dollar Speedway, as he would bring home an 8th place finish. On July 30th, Chance would return to Petaluma Speedway where he would capture another 8th place finish.

August would come with some struggles for Chance against some very good competition. He would miss a feature for there straight races, at Ocean Speedway, Silver Dollar Speedway, and Placerville Speedway in a span of just one week.

However, the best showing of his young Winged Sprint Car career would come at Silver Dollar Speedway with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour as they opened up the Gold Cup Race of Champions. Chance would win the dash, start on the pole & lead around 10 laps before falling to 5th & taking home his best finish of the year.

The 2022 season would end in November. Chance would travel to Stockton on November 5th, as he would make a one off appearance in the Snow Racing no. 7. He would run with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour & finish a solid 13th to end the SCCT season. Chance would then make a last second trip to Merced on November 23rd where he would finish 21st to end the season.

2022 was an impressive year for Chance Grasty and his team. “Our 2022 season went better than we expected, we ended up picking up speed faster than we imagined.“ Chance stated, “We put together a lot of good qualifying runs and multiple top ten finishes. We were able to run upfront in multiple mains and show our speed. Overall I had a lot of fun this season and can’t wait for the next!” Chance will look to have a strong 2023 season!

Chance’s 2022 stats: 9 features, 0 wins, 1 top-5, 4 top-10’s
