8/16/23… Placerville, California: Saturday Night, Colby Johnson would be back in action at Placerville Speedway. After a weekend in the Midget, he would hop back aboard the Winged Sprint Car & looked for a solid night in Placerville.
Colby began his night with time trials, where he was the 18th of 25 cars to hit the track. He was able to lay down a time of 11.056. With that time, Colby would end up timing himself in 4th quickest overall & setting himself up in a good spot for the rest of the night.
That put him on the outside of row two in the 4th spot for his heat race. Starting 4th, he just needed to hold onto the spot & stay in the top-4 to make the redraw. Colby was able to hold onto the 4th spot & finish the heat race there, making the redraw.
Luck would go Colby’s way as he pulled the one & would roll off from the pole for the feature. Starting 1st, Colby would slip backwards as the race went on. He had a fast car but was never able to get into a rhythm. When the checkered flag dropped on the feature, Colby came home in 7th.
It was a solid night overall for Colby Johnson & his team. They were fast all night & continue to get better the more they hit the track. A 7th place finish was a soldi result & just the finish they were looking for.
