9/28/23… Petaluma, California: Saturday Night, Colby Johnson would take on the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Petaluma Speedway for this year’s Adobe Cup. A strong field of 24 cars would pack the pit area & put on a great night of racing.
Colby began the night in qualifying. Ultimately, he would set himself behind the 8-ball as he didn’t get the lap that they wanted. After being the first car out in his group, he would lay down a time of 13.349 & ended up timing in 6th quickest in the group.
That lined him up for a 6th place starting spot in the heat race. As he rolled off from 6th, Colby just needed to gain as many spots as he could in the heat race. He was able to gain one spot & finish the heat race at in the 5th spot.
Going into the feature event, Colby would lineup on the outside of row nine in the 18th starting spot. As he started deep, he was able to keep the car out of trouble. Avoiding wrecks, and making passes, he was able to get up to the 9th position where he would finish the feature event.
It was a good ending to a tough start to the night in Petaluma. He would set himself behind the eight ball, but would makeup for it as the night went on & would go on to finish the night in 9th.
