Colby Johnson Kicks 2024 Off at Newly Configured Stockton Dirt Track!

By: Fast Time Media

4/9/24… Stockton, California: Saturday Night, Colby Johnson kicked off his 2024 race season. It would be the first race held at the newly configured Stockton Dirt Track with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday Night.

“New track was fun, definitely a lot of work that needs to be done,” Colby continued. “ The track is great & better than before, it just needs a little more love.”

He started the night off with time trials. There could be put into two groups, with Colby being put into group B. Colby was the 12th car out in group B & was able to time in well. A time of 14.372 was enough to time Colby in 6th quickest in the group.

That lined Colby up to start his heat race on the outside of the front row in the 2nd spot. Colby was able to jump out to the lead in the heat race. Once in the lead, he would never relinquish it, as he went on to win the heat race & lock into the dash. Starting 2nd in the dash, Colby ended up falling back to the 5th spot & finishing there.

Colby rolled out for the feature & would start out on the inside of the third row in the 5th spot. Unfortunately, just as quickly as things started to dry came to an end. Just a few laps in, Colby was caught up in an incident which left him nowhere to go & brought his night to an end.

“We qualified well, won the heat race, made the dash, but had bad luck in the main. I didn’t have control over what happened. The Cars a little beat up but it’s fixable.”

Despite a tough ending to the night, it was a really good start to the season for Colby & his team. They left Stockton on Saturday with a ton of positives & a ton of confidence for what they hope to be a great 2024 season.

“I was pretty pumped about the night overall. Excited & happy with how things went. The team & I put in a lot of hard work in the off season trying to improve some things.”

Colby would like to thank his sponsors; Pit Stop USA, Trench Shoring, Johnny Franklin’s Muffler - Driveline - Hitch, Tim McCloskey Electric, Inc., Ed Pink Racing Engines, NAPA Lake Parts, Inc., Rodela Specialty Fabrication, Lifeline Fire & Safety Systems, Met Tec, M2 Bearings, K1 RaceGear, Bell Helmets, Sequoia Rifleworks, System 1 Pro Ignition, Schoenfeld Headers, R.J.’s Race Graphics, QuickCar, & Bjork Construction.
