Colby Johnson Rounds Out Top-10 in Watsonville!

7/26/24… Watsonville, California: The past two weekends, Colby Johnson was in action at Ocean Speedway & Silver Dollar Speedway. Colby would run at Ocean Speedway Friday July 12th & then take on the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday July 19th.


Friday July 12th opened up that weekends Howard Kaeding Classic. The night started with a 6th place qualifying effort. Colby would put himself in a pole spot for his heat race, before falling to 2nd & finishing there.


Colby would then head into the feature where he rolled off from the inside of row five in the 9th spot. From 9th, Colby ran a solid feature as he battled inside of the top-10. The checkered flag fell & Colby grabbed a 10th place finish.


The following weekend, Colby was in action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Silver Dollar Speedway. He kicked the night off by being the 18th driver in Group A to hit the track. Going out late in the group, Colby was still able to lay down a really good lap & time in 5th quickest in the group.


Going into heat race action, he rolled off from the outside of the front row in the 2nd spot. Starting 2nd, Colby was able to grab the lead & went on to win the heat race. Colby locked into the dash where he started & finished 8th.


Colby went into the feature in a great spot as he rolled off from 8th. Starting 8th, he battled to try & stay in the top-10. Against a tough field of cars, Colby ended up falling back to the 12th spot & finishing the feature there.


Both nights went well for Colby against some tough competition. He opened up the Howard Kaeding Classic with a 10th place finish. Then the following weekend, he finished with a 12th place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
