4/23/24… Petaluma, California: Saturday Night, Cooper Marchant opened up his 2024 racing season at Petaluma Speedway. He was in action with the Wingless Sprint division to start what will be a great racing season.
He started Saturday Night out with time trials, where he would be the 2nd of 18 Wingless Sprints to qualify. Going out early, the track conditions weren’t ideal. He ended up laying down a time of 17.802 which was enough to time in 17th quickest overall.
Next up for Cooper was Heat race action, where he rolled off from the outside of row three in the 6th spot. He actually ended up being able to move forward & gain a spot, finishing the heat race in the 5th position.
As they went out for the feature, Cooper would roll off from the inside of row eight in the 15th starting spot. It was mostly about gaining laps & getting comfortable in the car. Cooper was able to stay out of trouble & went from the 15th spot up to 13th where he’d finish.
“I think this first race was all we could really ask for. It was more seat time to feel out the car & shake it down. I think it was good experience running a track that was fairly rougher than it was last year. It gave me a whole new feel for how the car reacted to the choppier surface. The car rolled onto the trailer in the one piece so we will clean it up and make preparations for next week.”
It was a solid night for Cooper to open up the 2024 racing season. He was able to roll the car in the trailer in one piece & get some very valuable laps at Petaluma Speedway.
