10/11/23… Petaluma, California: Saturday Night, Cooper Marchant was in action for the second & final time of the 2023 race season. He would get some more laps at Petaluma as they brought the Petaluma season to an end.
Cooper began his night with time trials, where he was the 10th of 13 Wingless Sprints to hit the track. He would end up timing in 13th quickest out of 13 Wingless Sprints. That would line Cooper up in the 7th spot for his heat race. After starting 7th, Cooper would finish where he started in the 7th spot. Despite finishing 7th, it was clear Cooper was getting better every time he hit the track.
That would line him up in the 13th spot for the feature event. Going into the main, Cooper felt good about the car. He would run some solid laps early on. However, around lap eight he would lose his brakes. Some debris ended up bending the brake line & Cooper would pull in, ending his night.
“Started off the night feeling pretty good. After qualifying we made some set up changes as the track changed. The heat race was very good, the changes were great and the car felt fast. They pulled our rookie banners right after we came in & felt really good about the main. On lap 8 of the main going into turn 3 we lost the brakes. A piece of debris hit the front caliper and bent the brake line fitting causing it to leak out brake fluid. I pulled in the infield and called it a night.”
It was a good night for Cooper & his team. They got some very valuable laps & Cooper got better every time that he hit the track. Unfortunately though, that brought his short but sweet 2023 season to an end.
