5/1/23... Bakersfield California: Saturday Night, Dawson Faria would be in action with the USAC CRA 410 Sprint Cars at Kern County Raceway Park. It would be his first time back behind the wheel of a non winged Sprint Car since September.
The night would get going with qualifying. Dawson would roll out as he looked to lay down a solid lap to set the nice up nicely. He would have to knock the bugs out as he would end up going 14th quick out of 17 Sprint Cars
"First time back in a non wing car since September had to knock off the bugs in hot laps and qualifying and it really showed with our result in qualifying, 14th out of 17 wasn’t where we should’ve been."
He would then roll off from 7th in the heat race. Starting 7th, Dawson would mount a charge forward. On the white flag lap, Dawson would be running 5th. Unfortunately, he would bike the car up & lose a spot, falling back to 6th where he would finish.
"We started 7th in the heat race and got up to 5th with a couple laps to go and headed into turn 1 on the white flag lap & I bicycled hard, set it back down and barely nudged the fence in the process all while only losing one spot and ended up 6th in the heat."
That would put Dawson starting 14th in the feature event. He would get rolling early on, starting to move forward. Dawson would have the car up top in 1&2 & on the bottom in 3&4 as he started making moves. He would end up finishing in the 9th spot, gaining 5 positions in the feature.
"Started 14th in the feature and slowly started making my way forward running the top in 1 and 2 and keeping my car in the moisture on the bottom of 3 and 4," Dawson continued. "Made my way up to 9th and that’s where we finished."
It was a solid night for Dawson Faria. He would struggle to get comfortable early, as he had to shake off the rust. However, he would get better as the night went on & ended up finishing 9th.
