By: Fast Time Media

10/11/23… Chico, California: Friday & Saturday Night, Drake Standley was in action at Silver Dollar Speedway, he would take part in the 2023 Fall Nationals & end off the 2023 season at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Drake began the night with time trials, where he was the 12th car out in group four. A time of 12.076 was good enough to time Drake in 5th quick in the group. That would line him up in 5th for heat race number four. Only five cars would teamver, and Drake was able to hold on to the 5th spot & finish the heat race there.

That lined Drake up on the outside of the 10th row in the 20th starting spot for the Friday Night feature event. Drake was very good during the feature. He was able to make his way up to the 12th spot, before getting over the cushion in turns 1&2. He’d end up falling back to 19th & finish there.

“Went out for qualifying & ran a 12.076 which put us 5th quick in group 4. Started 5th in my heat & knew I had to defend the final transfer spot. We held on to 5th the whole race. I had good speed at the beginning of the race & got by a few cars. Was running around 12th or 13th when I went over the cushion in corners 1 & 2 causing me to fall back to 19th.”

Saturday, Drake would be back in action as he looked to have a better finish to his night. He would begin the night with qualifying where he’d again be in group four. This time, he’d lay down a lap of 13.054 which put him 9th quickest in the group. That lined him up in the 9th spot for his heat race. He would end up gaining only one spot & finishing 8th.

That would send him to the B-main where he’d roll off from the 12th spot. Early on, he began to make his way toward. Unfortunately, as he was battling towards the front, his engine began to overheat. Drake would try to run some more laps, but ended up pulling off & ending his night with a 19th place B-main finish.

“Went out for qualifying in the last group and timed 9th quick out of 15 cars & started 9th in the heat. Unfortunately, I was only able to make my way up to 8th which put us 12th in the b main. I had a really good car for the B and made alot of early moves until I noticed the motor was starting to overheat. I went a few more laps but realized it wasn’t gonna cool down so that put an early end to my night.“

It was a really good weekend for Drake as they showed a ton of speed going into Trophy Cup. He battled a strong field of over 60 cars & was able to show that he could hang with the best on the West Coast.

Drake would like to thank his sponsors; Golden Valley Auto Body, Yuba City Scrap and Steel, Vanlare Steering Repair, and Standley Bros Hot Rods.
