7/6/23… Chico, California: Tuesday Night, Drake Standley was back in action at Silver Dollar Speedway. This time it was for this year’s 4th of July race. Drake put together a solid night that finished with a 5th place finish for him.
Tuesday began with qualifying, where Drake was the 3rd car in group number three to hit the track. Going out early in his group, Drake would not lay down the lap that he wanted. He ended up going 6th quickest in his group.
Drake lined up on the outside of row three in the 6th spot for the third heat race. Rolling off 6th, Drake needed to move forward to make the feature event. He would move forward from 6th to 4th & locked into the feature event.
“We finally were able to put together a solid night in chico for the 4th of July race. In qualifying we were the 2nd car out in group 3 and ended up 6th quick. Started 6th in the heat race and knew I had to make some passes in order to transfer. I was able to get a few guys and ended up 4th.”
When the feature came around, Drake started out on the inside of row eight in the 15th spot. Starting deep, Drake would begin his charge forward. He would roll the bottom for most of the feature & charged his way forward to the 5th spot where he would finish.
“Started 15th in the feature and had a really good car on the bottom where we were able to sneak our way up to a top 5 to end the night.”
It was an impressive night against some tough competition in Chico. The night got off to a rough start, but Drake turned it around & brought home a 5th place finish.
