11/29/23... Merced, California: Last Wednesday Night, Drake was in action in Merced. It would be the final Sprint Car race in California for the 2023 race season. He'd have a good night going, before getting upside down & ending his night early.
The night got off to a pretty solid night for Drake. He'd be the 27th car to hit the track for time trials. Despite being one of the final cars to hit the track, he was able to put down a solid time. With a lap of 10.750, it would be enough to time Drake in 17th quickest overall.
Going into the heat race, Drake would roll off from 5th with some work to do as only four cars transferred. Being in a tough heat race, Drake was still able to do what he needed to do. After starting 5th, Drake gained a spot & was able to gain a spot & finish 4th.
His heat race results were enough to help him transfer to the feature. Drake started the feature in 13th & would quickly get to work. Unfortunately, coming out of turn four on lap one, Drake would do a barrel roll & get upside down, bringing his feature to a quick end.
It was a rough ending to what was a solid night for Drake. They had some solid speed early in the night, and had a top-10 car if he didn't get upside down. It definitely wasn't the way Drake wanted to end his 2023 race season.
