Drake Standley Has Tough Night in Placerville!

By: Fast Time Media

6/29/23… Placerville, California: Saturday Night, Drake Standley was back in action at Placerville Speedway. He would have a tough night, coming up just short of the transfer to the feature event in his heat race & finishing 10th in the B-main.

Drake would get his night off to a tough start in qualifying. He would be the 2nd of 27 cars to hit the track. Despite going out early, Drake would end up laying down a time of 11.795 which put him 26th quickest overall.

“In placerville we just couldn’t get the night we hoped for. Messed up in qualifying in 1 and 2 both laps and ended up qualifying 2nd to last.”

That put Drake starting at the back of his heat race, as he would roll off from the 7th position. Starting 7th, Drake began to move forward. He would find some speed, and move forward to 5th where he would finish the heat race.

“Started last in the heat race and actually found some speed but didn’t have enough laps to get the last transfer spot so we ended up 5th from 7th.”

His heat race efforts put him just short of a transfer spot, so Drake had to fight his way through the B-main. He started in the 10th spot, and it would be tough to move forward. Drake finished directly where he started in the 10th spot.

“Started in the back of the b main cause of our qualifying time and just couldn’t make up enough ground to transfer. We just need to start recovering and get back on track to being up front again.”

It was a rough night for Drake in Placerville. He struggled in qualifying & the B-main. However, in the heat race there were some positives that he could take away.

Drake would like to thank his sponsors; Golden Valley Auto Body, Yuba City Scrap and Steel, Vanlare Steering Repair, and Standley Bros Hot Rods.
