Drake Standley Has Tough Night in Placerville!

By: Fast Time Media

9/5/23… Placerville, California: Saturday Night, Drake was in action for Night one of the NorCal-Posse Shootout. A stout field of cars were entered into Saturday Night action, ready for a good weekend of Labor Day Sprint Car racing.

Drake started the night with time trials, where he was the 20th of 29 cars to hit the track. As he rolled out, the track would be super rough. Drake would end up spinning, making his second lap all or nothing. His second lap would be better, but was only enough for 21st quickest overall for time trials on Saturday Night.

The heat race would see Drake roll off from the pole spot. He would get in the slick on lap one & fall back to 2nd. Most of the race Drake ran in the 2nd spot. However, late in the race he hit a rut causing damage to the car. Drake tried to finish the heat race but his throttle was stuck which caused him to spin & ultimately brought his night to an early end

“Went out for qualifying on a super rutted track and ruined the first lap after spinning, then on the second lap we ended up 21st quick. Started pole for the heat race, & got in the slick on the bottom putting us to second. Ran second most of the race until I hit a rut in the track causing my floor pan to nearly rip out of underneath the car. I still tried my best efforts to finish the race, but my throttle was stuck causing me to spin & ended our night.”

He was schedule to be in action on Sunday Night as well, but unfortunately it would get rained out. Drake will be back in action on Wednesday Night in Chico to open the Gold Cup Race of Champions with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

Drake would like to thank his sponsors; Golden Valley Auto Body, Yuba City Scrap and Steel, Vanlare Steering Repair, and Standley Bros Hot Rods.
