Dylan Bloomfield Rounds Out Podium in Ocean Speedway Season Opener!

By: Chris Santos

4/24/23... Watsonville California: Friday Night, Dylan Bloomfield would make the trip to Watsonville California for the Ocean Speedway season opener. It would be night one of a double header weekend for Dylan & 28 Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in action on Friday Night.

The night would get started with qualifying, where Dylan would be the 9th of 28 cars to hit the track. He would end up laying down a good lap. That would put Dylan 4th quickest overall in qualifying & put him in a good spot for his heat race.

He would then lining up on the outside of row two in the 4th position for his heat race. Starting 4th, he would need to finish in 4th spot or better to make the redraw. Dylan would have a strong heat race, as he would move forward one spot & finish 3rd, making the redraw.

"In qualifying, I went 4th quick overall," Dylan added. "Then in the heat race we went 4th to 3rd."

That put Dylan in the feature event where he would roll off from the pole. Starting 1st, Dylan would end up falling backwards to 4th early on. However, after the leaders would wreck, Dylan would restart in 2nd. He would battle in 2nd, trying to hold off Cole Macedo & also try & reel in Chase Johnson. Dylan would end up coming home in 3rd & round out the podium.

"Started pole of the main & fell back to 4th," Dylan continued. "The guys up front wrecked & that moved us up to 2nd. I missed my line on the restart & fell back to 3rd to finish there."

With a great finish Friday, Dylan would head into Saturday in Merced with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour looking to improve off of his Friday results. A strong field of 40 Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in the pit area & ready to roll on Saturday Night.

Dylan would be the 4th car to go out in group number four. He would lay down a time of 10.685. That would be a very good lap & put him 2nd quickest in his group.

That would put Dylan on the pole of his heat race. Unfortunately Dylan would get called for a jump start on the initial start. He would restart in the 5th spot & have to battle hard for a transfer spot. Unfortunately at the end of the heat race, he would make contact with a car stopped on the track & finish 7th.

Dylan & the Vertullo Motorsports Team would make repairs to get back on track for the B-main. He would roll off from 5th, needing to finish top-4 to transfer. Starting 5th, Dylan would be on rails in the B-main. He would go from 5th ro 2nd & make the feature.

In the feature, Dylan would roll off from deep as he would start 22nd. Unfortunately on lap one, he would be involved in an incident that would end his night. Going into turn three, he would make contact with another driver & get put upside down.

Unfortunately, it was a rough way to end a very good weekend for Dylan. He would have very good speed both nights, taking home a podium at Ocean Speedway. It would've been another great night for Dylan if not for some very bad luck.

Dylan would like to thank his sponsors; Gary Silva Ranches Teresa Schimandle Silva, Chris Magoon Air One HVAC Systems, Starr Property Management, Vallejo Coin Exchange, Martinez Coin And Jewelry Exchange, G&N Construction, Morrison Concrete, Bryant Heating and Cooling, Simpson Race Products, King Racing Products, System 1 Pro Ignition, Michael Sellers, Slade Shock Technology, Red Line Synthetic Oil, ButlerBuilt Motorsports Equipment, & 83v racing.
