Early Wreck Ends Johnny Key Classic For Luke Hayes!

By: Fast Time Media

8/22/23… Watsonville, California: Saturday Night, Luke Hayes was in action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour for the Johnny Key Classic. He had a solid night going for him, before an early wreck in the feature brought his night to an end.

The driver of the Hayes Farms, Finley Farms, Inter State Oil, and Farm Logistics #9L would kick his night off with time trials. He was the 5th car to hit the track in group number three & would time in 3rd quickest in the group.

Luke lined up on the outside of the front row in the 2nd spot for heat race number three. Starting up front, he quickly got in line behind the leader. After that, he was able to hold on to the 2nd spot & finish the heat race there.

Going into the feature, Luke was in a good spot as he rolled off from the 10th spot. The race would get underway, but quickly a yellow flag would fall. Just two laps in, a restart would ensue & that’s where Luke’s night would come to an end.

While restarting around mid pack, the front of the field would stack up. Luke would have nowhere to. As he began to slow down, he made contact with a car to the inside of him & that sent him into the wall. He would have heavy front end damage, and his night came to and on just lap two of the feature event.

While the night came to an unfortunate end, Luke continues to show speed against the California competition. As the home stretch of the season slowly creeps up, Luke will look to carry that speed through the end of the season.

Luke would like to thank his sponsors; Hayes Farms, Finley Farms, Inter State Oil, and Farm Logistics.
