4/9/24… Somerton, Arizona: Saturday Night, Austin Ervine was back in action. This time it was at the Diamond in the Desert, Cocopah Speedway with the Sands Chevrolet Wild West Sprint Car Series for their first visit to the track in 2024.
The night would start out with heat race action. Austin rolled off from the outside of row two in the 4th starting spot. It unfortunately wouldn’t go the way that Austin wanted. After starting 4th, he fell back to the 7th spot where he’d finish.
A tough heat race, Austin started out on the inside of row seven in the 13th starting spot. Rolling off from deep, Austin & his team would make a ton of changes to get the set up right. It seemed to have some effect, as Austin went on to battle his way up to 9th where he’d finish.
“We had a decent night on Saturday. Cocopah is a tricky track when it comes down to set up. We threw the kitchen sink at it for the main event to make it work & learned a lot going forward for our next appearance there.”
It was an alright night for Austin on Saturday. After a tough heat race, they seemed to improve the setup & get Austin more comfortable in the car as the night went on.
