11/17/23... Roseburg, Oregon: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Night, Evan Gularte was in action for a big weekend of racing. He would have a rough start to the weekend, but bounced back on Saturday Night to bring home a 3rd place finish.
He'd begin the weekend with time trials on Thursday. Evan would be the 16th car to hit the track, but ended up timing in Quick Time in his group. He'd go out for the heat race where he'd roll off from 4th. After a good start, he'd lock up the brakes while running 2nd. From there, he'd go on to finish the heat race in 7th.
That set him up for the qualifier where he'd roll off from the inside of row four in the 7th spot. He'd end up finishing where he started in 7th. Evan would roll off from the 4th spot in the C-main, but it came to an early end on lap one when the chain fell off the car.
"In qualifying I ended up quick time in our group. Didn’t have the greatest heat locked up the brakes running second and couldn’t gain any spots. Started 7th in the qualifier and ended 7th. The chain fell off on the first lap of the C Main and ended our night."
Friday Night, he'd look to have a better night. Once again the night got off to a good start. He'd go out & time in 7th quickest in his group. That set him up to start 3rd in the heat raced, where he'd go on to finish in the 4th spot.
Once again, he'd go into a qualifier, this time though he would roll off from 5th. After starting 5th, the throttle would get stuck. A caution came out & he'd have to kill it. Evan would end up finishing the qualifier in 11th. That set him up to roll off from 7th in the D-main & he's charge to 2nd. Evan made the C-main where he'd battle his way from 14th to 7th & barely miss a transfer spot.
"Started the night by timing in 7th quick. Began the heat in 3rd & spun on the last lap ending 4th. The throttle hung in my qualifier running 3rd & when the yellow came out all I had the choice & had to kill it. Made 2nd in the D, & missed the transfer by two in the C-main."
Saturday Night began with him in a qualifier. Hed roll off from 5th & go on to finish 3rd. That was enough to put him into a B-main. Evan would charge in the B-main. He'd start 12th & go on to finish in the 4th spot & make the feature event.
Evan began the feature event in the 16th & final starting spot. The 50 lap feature would see Evan charge hsi way to the front. He'd end up getting up to the 3rd spot, where he'd finish & round out the podium on the final night.
"Started 5th in my qualifier & fell back immediately, but gained some ground & ended 3rd. Started 12th in the B-main & made a last lap pass for the transfer! Started last in the A main and went through traffic to end up 3rd!"
It was an incredible ending to a long weekend for Evan. Thursday & Friday didn't go the way that he wanted them to go. However, he'd make a huge rebound on Saturday Night & was able to grab a podium finish.
