2/8/24... Reno, Nevada: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Evan Gularte was in action in his home state for the High Desert Hustle. He would be in action for both Winged & Non-Winged Outlaw action over the course of the weekend.
Thursday started out with time trials. Evan would go out & lay down really good times in both sets. Non-Winged Outlaw competition saw Evan go out 17th in his group & time in 2nd quickest overall. In Winged Outlaw competition, Evan was the 46th car out in his group & timed in 6th quickest overall.
Next up was heat race action for Evan. He started it out with Non-Winged heat race action, where he would roll off from the 4th spot & fall back to finish 7th. In Winged Outlaw competition, he would start in the 3rd position & go on to finish where he started in 3rd.
Evan would then roll off for the Non-Winged Outlaw B-main where he'd start & finish in 10th. In the Winges Outlaw division, he made a qualifier where he would roll off from 4th. Evan would make his forward & finish 2nd, making the feature event.
The feature event saw Evan roll off from a great spot as he started 6th. After starting 6th, Evan would look to try & bring home a top-5 finish. Unfortunately with 9 to go, his feature would come to an early end & he'd finish in the 16th & final spot.
Friday, Evan would only be in Winged Outlaw competition but he'd kick the night off with time trials. This time he would be the 16th car out in his group & he'd time in 14th quickest. Evan would then lineup on the outside of the front row for his heat race in the 2nd spot. He'd end up losing a spot & going on to finish in 3rd.
He would be locked into a qualifier, but scheduled to roll off from the outside of row three in the 6th spot. From the 6th spot, he'd charge up to 3rd & finish there. That wouldn't be enough to make the feature & he'd have to go to the B-main. There, Evan rolled off from the 5th spot, and was able to make his way up to 4th where he'd finish & make the feature.
The feature would see Evan have some better luck this time around. As he started 14th, he was able to battle hard. He'd end up grabbing a handful of spots & going from the 14th spot to 9th & finishing the feature there.
As they entered Saturday Night action, Evan rolled off from the outside of the third row in the 6th spot. He needed to stay in the top-6 to make the feature & Evan would do just that. He'd charge his way from 6th, up into the 2nd spot & finished the B-main there.
Evan did enough to lock into the Saturday Night feature of the Winged Outlaw division. He'd have some work to do as he rolled off from the outside of the 6th row in 12th. From the drop of the Green, Evan was on the hammer. He was able to drive up through the field & into the top-5. Evan ended up doing enough to grab a 4th place finish, just short of the podium.
Overall, it was a great weekend for Evan in his home state of Nevada. He impressed all three nights against the best Outlaw Kart & Dirt Racers in the world. He made the feature all three nights & even brought home a 4th place finish.
