4/17/23... Antioch California: Saturday Night, Evan Gularte would make the trip to Antioch California to kick off the 2023 Hunt Wingless Sprint Car season. A very strong field of 35 Wingless Sprint Cars would be in attendance ready to roll on Saturday.
Evan would get his night rolling with qualifying. He would be scheduled to be the 25th car to hit the track for single car qualifying. Unfortunately, engine issues would cause him to miss qualifying & not make it out.
"Had motor issues most of the night & didn't end up getting a lap in qualifying."
In the heat race, Evan would have to roll off from the 9th position. Despite motor issues, Evan would still be able to move up a few positions. He would end up gaining two spots & finishing the heat race in the 7th position.
"I had to start 9th in the heat I believe and passed two cars with a bogging motor."
That would line Evan up in the 19th position for the B-main. He would have to make up a lot of ground to get into a transfer spot. It seemed as though they found the engine issues, as he would get to work immediately. Evan would slice & dice through the field, gaining 15 spots & finishing in the 4th & final transfer spot.
"Motor got a bit better for the B and passed 15 cars to make the transfer!"
Evan would roll off from the 20th & final position in the feature event. He would once again have a lot of speed in the feature. The 17m was on rails early on, as he would find his way to 7th. Unfortunately, he would make contact with another car, and then his engine would blow, causing him to go straight into the wall & ending his night.
"I started last in the A and battled to make it to 7th," Evan added. "Thdn my left front got ran over and lost brakes and my motor blew up putting me in the fence."
Despite all of the issues, Evan had a ton of speed in Antioch. Hopefully they're able to get the engine issues figured out & get back out there because its going to be a great year for Evan & his team!
