By: Chris Santos

3/28/23... Red Bluff CA: This weekend, Evan Gularte & his team would end the Red Bluff Indoor season at the West Coast Nationals. He would run his final Open Intermediate race of the season & look to take home the biggest win of his career.

Friday would get started with the Timed Tie Breaker. He would be the 24th car to hit the track. Despite going out so late, Evan would roll out so late despite having a motor that wasn't at 100%.

Evan would roll off from 2nd for his heat race. However coming to the green flag he would get put into the fence. Evan would then have to start in the rear, but would drive his way forward to finish in the 3rd position.

"I went out for the Timed Tie Breaker & ended up 3rd with a motor that was not running very great." Evan added, "I started 2nd in the heat and got fenced coming to green. Went to the rear and came back to 3rd."

Saturday, Evan would roll off from 6th on the outside of row three in the heat race. He would end up getting into the wall, and was not able to finish. Evan would end up getting scored with a 6th place finish in the heat race.

Next up was the qualifier, where Evan would start on the outside front row in 2nd. They would have the car on rails in the qualifier, as Evan would run the fastest lap of the weekend & end up winning the qualifier to end Saturday.

"Started 6th in the heat race and got into the wall and did not finish." Evan stated, "Then I started 2nd in the qualifier and never looked back running the fastest time of the weekend!"

On Saturday, Evan would start on the pole of the B-main event. He would once again run away with the race as they would have the car on rails. Evan would run the fastest lap of the day & go on to win the B-main.

Evan would roll off from 11th for the feature. He would start to drive through the field when he would get into the wall. They would have to go to the hot pit where the team would get it fixed and back on track. Evan would then drive his way through the field, showing his speed off & getting to 2nd. He would end up falling back to 4th where he would finish.

"In the B-Main started pole and never looked back running the tracks fastest time of the day." Evan continued, "Then I started 11th and went through the field and hit the wall so I had to go to the hot pit for fixing. Then went back to 2nd for a second and battled to hard and ended fourth."

Overall it was an impressive way to end the Red Bluff season for Evan & his team. He would nearly come home with a win, despite having a lot of adversity all weekend.

Evan would like to thank his sponsors; Jesse Colwell Racing, Gularte Racing Team, Factory QRC, L Delo Designs, and Mettec.
