Good Night ends in Heartbreak for Isaiah Vasquez at Fall Nationals!

By: Chris Santos

10/4/22…Chico California: Friday night Isaiah Vasquez and his team would make the trip to Silver Dollar Speedway to run with the sprint car challenge tour for their portion of the Fall Nationals. 67 wing 360 Sprint Cars would pack the pit area, ready to go in honor of Tyler Wolf.

Isaiah would start his night out in qualifying where he would be in the third of four groups. He would show some good speed once again in Chico as he was able to lay down a fast lap and go fourth quick out of the 16 sprint cars that were in his group. “

That would line him up in the third position for heat race number three. Starting third Isaiah would just stay around there for the race, eventually falling back one spot to fourth where he would finish and lock himself into the Friday night feature event. “In the heat race started fourth and finished fourth.”

His heat race efforts would line him up nicely for the feature event as he would roll off from the 15th position. However, early on bad luck would strike once again, as two cars battling in front of him would make contact sending the lower car down and leaving Isaiah nowhere to go but over his tires and upside down.

“ in the main we started 15th and there was a restart and we passed a couple cars and there was another restart and I think we got up to tenth. Everyone got caught up on the top and we passed them. Then I don’t know, two cars got together and one of them shot out this way and smoked me. It was a literal identical flip to the last time we were here, and the car is junked.”

It seemed as though it was going to be a good night for Isaiah in Chico. He had things rolling early on in the night and even in the future before bad luck would strike and end his night and his weekend destroying his car.

Next Race: TBA
