Heartbreak Derails Bid For Win in Petaluma For Nick Robfogel!

By: Fast Time Media

8/23/23… Petaluma, California: Saturday Night, Nick Robfogel was in action at Petaluma Speedway with the Joe Hunt Magneto’s Wingless Sprint Series. His night had a tough ending as a wreck while leading would halt his bid for a win on Saturday.

Nick began Saturday Night with time trials. He was the 26th of 29 cars to hit the track. Nick would be able to lay down a pretty impressive time despite going out late. That was enough for Nick to time in 3rd quickest overall.

That put Nick starting on the outside of row two in the 4th starting position for his heat race. Early on Nick quickly started to move forwards. Unfortunately, while making a pass for 2nd a car would spin in front of Nick & collect him. The front axel would be bent but be continued on. Nick ended up charging back to 4th where he would finish & make the redraw.

“Qualified 3rd quick & started 4th in the heat race. I was making the pass for 2nd and a car spun in front of us and I had nowhere to go. The car had a bent front axel but I was able to drive back to fourth and keep the transfer spot for redraw.”

When the feature came around, Nick rolled off from the outside of the front row in the 2nd spot. Nick would get out to the lead & lead until lap 15. After the first 15 laps, he had a cut right rear & left front tire. Despite that, he still was able to hang on to the lead. After a restart, Nick would get loose in turns 1 & 2. Him & second place would come together, bringing them both to a stop. Nick went to the back, and was able to make his way back up to a 10th place finish.

“Got the lead on the opening lap of the feature, & the car was a rocket stretching the lead. I was holding on but on lap 15 I got a little free into turn 1 and 2nd place was not able to check up in time & jumped my LR & cutting my LR. Got it fixed & cane out with 15 to go and now in 15th I was able to get a few spots back and finish 10th.”

Unfortunately, it was another good night filled with bad luck for Nick Robfogel. He once again had a car capable of winning, but came up just short of grabbing his first win of the season.

Next Race: TBA

Nick would like to thank his sponsors; RCS, Empire Automotive, Tony Maestri w/state farm, and Apex contractors.
