11/30/22... Last Wednesday Night, the Bloomfield family were in Merced California, as Dylan took on the USAC National Midgets. As the double header concluded, they would begin their trip back home to Oakley California.
Unfortunately on one of the back roads, they were struck head on by a driver of a contractor van who had fallen asleep as they were making a left hand turn. Most of the damage was done to the passenger side of the RV, which is where Dylan’s mom Shannon was seated. Dustin was left unhurt however Shannon was not so lucky.
She was rushed to the Modesto hospital where she was admitted to the ICU & has been there ever since. The injuries are pretty serious as she has; Two broken Femurs, broken lower leg bones, a compound fracture in her right arm, a broken nose, a jaw fracture, multiple skull fractures, and some large gashes across her nose & face. They have already began her road to recovery as she has been through multiple surgeries & has many more to go.
If you have ever got the chance to talk to Dustin, Shannon, or Dylan, you know that this is one of the most genuine families in the pit area. If you got the chance to get closer to them, you know just how strong Shannon is. Nonetheless, it’s a long road ahead for Shannon & the whole family.
On Saturday Night, Debbie & Dave Vertullo with 83v Racing reached out to me with a selfless and great idea. They wanted to start a fundraiser where all of the proceeds go to the Bloomfield family. Debbie will be making Purple bracelets that will have the message “#BloomfieldFamilyStrong” on them. As a thank you for your donation you will receive a complementary bracelet to show your continued support.
