Hunter Owens 8th at Southern Oregon Speedway!

By: Fast Time Media

5/21/24… White City, Oregon: Friday Night, Hunter Owens was back in action. Once again, they’d have the Wings on as he was in action at Southern Oregon Speedway in the Limited Sprint Car with the IHS Sprints.

He would kick the night off with qualifying, where he was the 2nd car to hit the track. Going out early, he laid down a time of 14.118 which timed him in 11th quickest overall. That set him up to start 6th in the heat race, where he’d make his way up to the 4th spot & finish there.

Going into the feature event, Hunter rolled off from the inside of row five in the 9th starting spot. After starting 9th, Hunter was able to keep the car out of trouble & gain a spot. He’d go on to finish in the 8th position.

“Friday night we unloaded with intentions to be fast. For taking a knife to a gun fight I would say we competed pretty well, had good speed, passed some cars, & overall just got faster throughout the night. There were somethings as a driver I could have done better.”

Saturday Night, Hunter looked to carry the momentum from Friday into the night. Once again, the night began with time trials. This time, Hunter timed in 14th quickest overall. He then rolled off for his heat race & started in 7th. After a power steering line issue, Hunter would end up finishing 6th.

The feature saw him roll off from the outside of row six in 12th. Early on he was able to move forwards in the feature. Unfortunately he’d have to go to the work area after being involved in an incident. They made it back out, but he was only able to drive it up 11th.

“Saturday we went out and where just a little off. Made changes for the heat race & did ok but had a power steering line break & held on to the race car for 8 laps with no power steering. Someone feed me a RR in the feature & I pulled into the pit to make sure the car was ok. I got pushed off & drove it as hard & as fast as I possibly could with what I had.”

It was a pretty good weekend for Hunter. Despite some issues throughout the weekend, they brought the car home in one piece & ended with an 8th place finish on Friday & an 11th place finish on Saturday.

Hunter would like to thank his sponsors: Shasta pizza company, Keetons machine shop, & Ryan owens construction
