4/26/24… Yreka, California: Friday & Saturday Night, Hunter Owens & his team put the wing on the car & went Limited Sprint Racing at Yreka. It was a solid weekend, which resulted in a pair of top-10 finishes for Hunter.
Friday started out with heat race action where he rolled off from the inside of row three in the 5th starting spot. Starting 5th, Hunter was able to hold onto the spot & went on to finish where he started in the 5th spot.
Hunter went out for the feature where he rolled off from the inside of row five in the 9th starting spot. Starting 9th, Hunter battled around there for most of the feature been & once again finished where he started in the 9th spot.
Saturday the night started out with time trials. Hunter was the 2nd car out in his group & ended up timing in 2nd quick. That set him up to start 5th in the heat race, where he’d go on to also finish the heat race.
The feature had a similar look to Friday’s feature. Hunter went out & rolled off from the inside of row five in the 9th spot. Once again, he battled hard to stay in the top-10. When the checkered fell, he finished where he started in 9th.
“Had a good car with good speed just was a little slower than some cars. Had some room for improvements which got better over the weekend. Glad to get back after it in the wing car & turn some good laps & just get comfortable agian after what happend last year.”
It was the first time Hunter was back behind the wheel since his wreck last year in Placerville. They did a ton of work in the off season & are looking for a great season in 2024.
