Hunter Owens Has Rough Night in Petaluma!

By: Fast Time Media

8/23/23… Petaluma, California: Saturday Night, Hunter Owens was back in action at Petaluma Speedway. It would be his first ever visit to the track & he looked to have a good night with the Joe Hunt Magento’s Wingless Series in Petaluma.

Hunter kicked the night off with qualifying, as he was the 7th of 29 cars to hit the track. The track would be rough & Hunter wouldn’t be able to lay down a lap that he wanted. He ended up timing in 27th quick in qualifying on Saturday.

That put him on the inside of row four in the 7th starting spot for his heat race. He seemed to have begun figuring the track out as he moved forwards in the heat race. Hunter ended up finishing the heat race in the 5th spot, but it was just one spot short of a transfer to the B-main.

After a 5th place finish in the heat race, Hunter would have to go to the B-main where he lined up on the inside of row two in the 3rd spot. Starting 3rd, Hunter would struggle as he began to fall backwards. Unfortunately, he would fall back too far, as he slipped back to the 10th spot & would miss out on a transfer to the feature event.

“Had speed but weren't very competitive for the first time at Petaluma. Qualifying didn't get the best of laps and missed the transfer spot by one in both heat and b main. Fast, rough, and hooked up something new for me.”

It was an okay first night for Hunter at Petaluma Speedway. He struggled in qualifying, but nearly locked into the feature event through the heat race. However, the struggles continued in the B-main & his night came to an end.

Hunter would like to thank his sponsors; J&J pumps, Keetons machine shop, & Shasta Pizza.

Next Race: 9/2, Placerville Speedway
