John Clark Battles Outlaws in Gold Cup!

By: Fast Time Media

9/14/23… Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday Night, John Clark would take on the 69th Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway. Wednesday would be with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, and Thursday & Saturday he would take on the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.

John started the weekend out on Wednesday with time trials with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. The night started out tough by going 13th in the group in qualifying. That put John in the non-qualifier, where they would go on to start in 4th, but fall back to finish in the 13th spot. John wouldn’t transfer to the heat race & started the C-main in 15th. John would go on to finish in the 10th spot & end the night there.

The prelim night would begin with time trials, where John would tune in 24th quick out of 26 410 Sprint Cars. That would put John on the pole of heat race number four. Starting 1st, John would fall back to 5th & finish there but transfer to the feature.

Going into the feature event, John would start in the 20th spot. Starting 20th, the feature ended up going green to checkered. It would be a barn burner as John battled with some tough competition in the back of the field. When the checkered dropped, John would finish in the 20th spot.

“In our prelim night, we were able to transfer to the A-main straight from the heat race. In the A-main I started 20th and raced with other cars in the back making good laps on the top of the speedway. The race went green to checkered and I ended the night in 20th.“

John kicked off Saturday with heat race action where the #12J would start in 10th. John would move forward to 9th. However, late in the race John would fall back to the 10th spot & finish the heat race in 10th.

That would place John starting 8th in the C-main. Once again, John would quickly move forward. After a restart, John fell back to 6th & would battle between 6th & 8th, battling there much of the race. The checkered would fall on the C-main, and John would finish in the 7th spot which brought the weekend to an end.

“The track was still good for my heat race, and I was able to battle hard for 9th, but eventually finished 10th. In the C-main I started 8th and got up as far as 5th, but the caution came out and it was a complete restart. After that I was racing hard between 6th and 8th, and would end up finishing the race in 7th.“

John would have a solid weekend in Chico. The results don’t show that, but John would have good speed in the 410 & would even make the prelim night feature. John has one more race with the World of Outlaws on Saturday in Placerville!

John would like to thank their sponsors; CCI Electrical, VSR: Vanlare Steering Repair, Buster’s Southern BBQ, Jerry’s Valero, The Welding Shop, Johnny Franklins Mufflers, & Redwood Autobody.
