4/19/23... Placerville California: Saturday Night, John Clark & the CCI Racing Team would be in action in Placerville for the 3rd points race of the 2023 race season. A solid field of twenty Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in the pit area & ready to roll on Saturday.
John would be the 8th car to hit the track for time trials. Things would end up feeling off for John. The driver of the 12J would end up putting them 15th quickest overall in time trials.
"I would go out as the 8th car to qualify and get two good laps in, but the car seemed off. I ended up qualifying 15th."
That would line John up in the 5th starting position for their heat race. Starting 5th, the track would be very Hooked up making it hard to pass. John would end up finishing the heat race where they started in the 5th position.
"In the heat race I started 5th, the track was still hooked up and fast, so there wasn’t any passing in the heats & I finished 5th."
John would be lined up in the 15th spot for the feature event. The 12J would quickly get rolling, as John quickly got up to the top-10. On a restart, someone would get into John & knock out the left rear shock. Then while trying to make a pass, John would get pinched on the bottom & get upside down, ending their night.
"I started the A-main in 15th and quickly got up to the top 10. On a restart I got drove into on the left side of the car and I could tell that I had no more left rear shock," John continued. "I continued to race close with the other cars and while going for a pass I got sandwiched on the bottom and ended up flipping."
It was a tough night for John & the CCI Racing Team. Despite the tough luck, John would show some very good speed in the feature & it seems as though they starting to get comfortable as the season gets going.
