7/11/24… Petaluma, California: Saturday Night, John Clark was back in action. They’d make the trip to Petaluma Speedway for the one & only NARC trip to the track in 2024. With 21 cars in attendance, the field would be tough on Saturday Night.
John started the night out with time trials. After not being able to make it out for hot laps, they were the 15th of 21 cars to hit the track. Without being able to make adjustments to the setup & going out towards the end of qualifying, John didn’t get the lap that they wanted & would time in 19th quickest overall.
Without getting a good qualifying time, John would start at the back of the heat race. Rolling off from 7th, John would only be able to gain spots. They were able to get into the 6th spot but would finish the heat race there.
“The night started out not getting any hot laps due to a problem with the gear shifter, we thrashed to get it fix for qualifying. After a bad qualifying effort I started last in the heat race & I was able to gain one position which helped us with starting position for the main.”
Going out for the feature, John would start on the inside of row nine in the 17th starting spot. After avoiding an early pile up, John was able to gain a few more spots. When the checkered flag fell, John would finish in the 11th spot, just outside of the top-10.
“In the main I would start 17th & after missing the opening lap big wreck & other wrecks throughout the race I was able to cap the night off with a 11th place effort. With the track being as dry as it was & not wanting to put new tires on the car made it different to finish the race strong.”
It ended up being a good night for John & the 12J team. They battled hard throughout the night after some early misfortunes & were able to rebound to bring home an 11th place finish.
