7/21/23… Watsonville, California: Last Saturday Night, John Clark was back in action at Ocean Speedway. This time, the was with the NARC 410 Sprint Cars for night two of the 2023 Howard/Kaeding Classic!
John started the night out with time trials, where the driver of the 12J would go out in the fourth & final group. The driver of the 12J laid down a time of 12.284. That ended up timing John in 6th quickest in the fourth & final group.
That lined John up in the 6th position for heat race number four. John knew that they had to move forward as only the top-5 made the feature. On a slickened off track, John was able to move forward. They would gain one spot & finish in the 5th & final transfer spot.
“I would qualify 6th in my group lining me up 6th in the heat. In the heat I started 6th and the top 5 would make it straight to the main. I knew I was capable of transferring so I wouldn’t have to run the B-main and I ended up getting around the 5th place car.”
Locked into the feature event, John rolled off from the 19th position on the inside of row ten. The car would be tight early, but John would keep fighting. John would hold onto the 19th spot & finish the feature event there.
“In the A-main I started 19th, I would start the main with the car being to tight and I would struggle a little in the opening laps and just tried avoiding any wrecks. The car got better later in the race, and I was racing with some other cars but kinda staying around the same speed and ended up finishing 19th.“
It was a solid night for John with the 410 under the hood. They were able to get more laps under there belt with the 410 & brought the car home in one piece with a solid finish.
