3/23/24... Chico, California: Friday Night, John Clark was in action at Silver Dollar Speedway. For the first time in 2024, the 410 would be under the hood as they would tackle a big weekend of 410 Sprint Car action in Chico!
John would start the weekend out with time trials. Going out for time trials, John was the 1st car in group 4 to hit the track. Struggling to get used to the car, John would lay down a time of 12.180 which was enough for 6th quickest in the group.
The heat race saw John roll off from the outside of row three in the 6th starting spot. John tried to track down 5th position for the final transfer but came up just short to finish 6th & go to a B-main. Heading into the B-main, John started 3rd & would fall back to 4th but held on for the final transfer to the feature.
Starting 24th in the feature, John had a ton of work to do. Early on, they were able to move forward & make some moves. Unfortunately, an incident with another driver would send John for a wild flip which would bring John's night & weekend to an end.
"We decided to bring the 410 out to Chico for the Mini Gold Cup. In qualifying I struggled a bit getting use to the car again. In the heat race I felt a lot better & was close to getting the last Transfer spot, but missed it by one. In the B-main I started 3rd & finished 4th getting a Transfer to the A-main. In the A-main I was able to move forward a little bit on a fast track, but got into another car taking a tumble. That was it for our weekend as there was to much damage to continue."
It wasn't the weekend that they wanted in Chico for John & the 12J team. It seemed as though they were finding speed & on pace for a good finish before John got upside down & brought the weekend to an early end.
