2/28/24... Marysville, California: Saturday Night, John Clark was in action at Marysville Raceway to kick off the 2024 race season. 15 Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in action for the Loree & Sherm Toller Memorial to kick the season off.
The night would start out with time trials. John hit the track aiming to lay down a good lap & put himself in a good spot for the rest of the night. John ended up being the first car to hit the track. Once on track, John put down a time of 13.296 which was good enough for 6th quickest.
John went out for the heat race, where they'd roll off from the outside of the front row in the 2nd starting spot. Once the green fell, John got into a rhythm quickly ripping off laps. The driver of the 12J held onto the 2nd spot & would go on to finish there.
Going into the feature, John started on the outside of row four in the 8th spot. Early on, John would move up into the 6th spot. After a late race restart, John would fall back to 7th, where they'd end up finishing & ending the night.
"We decided to head to Marysville for the first race of the season and shake down the car. We missed the set-up in the main & were challenged with a rough handling car but survived with no damage & a 7th place finish to start the year," John continued. "Overall it was a good night, & everything on the car worked like expected. I look forward to continuing the race year and getting some good finishes."
With Chico raining out this weekend, John & the team will turn their attention to March 9th in Hanford. If Mother Nature plays nice, they'll put the 410 in & go 410 racing next weekend.
