9/20/23… Placerville, California: Saturday Night, John Clark was in action at Placerville Speedway for the final time in 2023. John would battle the Outlaws & try to put together their best run of the 2023 season with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.
John started the night out with time trials. With 38 cars, qualifying would be split into two big groups. John would be the 7th of 19 cars in group B to hit the track. A time of 10.964 was good enough to time in John 16th quickest in group B with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.
That would put the driver of the CCI Racing #12J on the outside of the fourth row in the 8th spot for heat race number four. After starting 8th, John was able to hang on to the spot for a while. However, as the race went on, John would fall back to the 9th spot & finish the heat race there.
A 9th place finish in the heat race, would send John to the Last Chance Showdown where John would start 16th. Starting deep, John was able to gain quite a few spots. However, they started too deep to be able to lock into the feature, and John would come home 12th bringing the night to an end.
“I would end up going out in flight 2 for qualifying and got an okay lap time. I started 8th in my heat race and eventually fell to 9th, sending me to the B-main. I started near the back of the b-main and was able to gain a few spots, but not quite good enough to get into the A-main.“
It was good for John to get more laps in the 410 for their program. They continue to get more laps & get more comfortable the more they get hit the track. Next race for John will be this Saturday at Petaluma with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour for the Adobe Cup.
“Overall I showed good speed and was able to keep up with everyone on a fast track that had very little passing early on. It was a good experience for us not having many 410 races.“
