11/7/23... Stockton, California: Saturday Night, Josh Gillis was in action for the final time during the 2023 race season. It was not only Josh's final race, but the final Joe Hunt Series race of the 2023 race season as well.
Josh kicked the night off with time trials. He'd be the 4th of 22 Non Winged Sprint Cars to hit the track. The driver of the #18 didn't get the lap that he wanted. A time of 18.869 would only be enough to time Josh in 18th quickest overall.
That lined him up on the inside of row four in the 7th spot for the heat race. It would be tough to pass during the heat race. After starting 7th, Josh would end up gaining one spot, moving forward to 6th & finishing there.
When the feature rolled around, Josh started on the outside of row eight in the 16th starting spot. After starting 16th, he'd slowly begin to move forward during the race. Slowly gaining spots, Josh was able to move his way forward to the 13th spot where he'd finish the feature event.
It was a solid ending to the 2023 race season for Josh Gillis. He'd have the best season of his career, as he ran the most races of his career. That would be highlighted by a 7th place finish at Antioch Speedway on May 6th.
