Kaleb Montgomery Brings Home Win at Ocean Speedway!

By: Fast Time Media

8/16/23… Watsonville, California: Friday Night, Kaleb Montgomery was in action at Ocean Speedway with the Taco Bravo Sprint Cars. It would be a great night for Kaleb & his team, and he would bring home the win on Friday Night.

Kaleb started Friday Night by timing in 3rd quickest overall. He would be the 17th of 20 cars to hit the track for time trials. Despite going out as one of the final cars to hit the track, he would still lay down a time of 11.078 putting him 3rd quick.

That put Kaleb on the outside of row two in the 4th starting spot. Rolling off from 4th, he quickly found his way to 3rd. Once in 3rd he seemed to be all but locked into the dash. However, his wing would blow apart causing him to nearly spin. Kaleb would hang on & grab 3rd.

“We qualified 3rd overall which put us starting 4th in the heat. From there I got to 3rd place and almost spun out when my wing blew apart.”

His team would rush to get a new wing on for the dash & they would just make it out in time. He started the dash on the outside of the front row in the 2nd spot. After starting 2nd, Kaleb was able to hang on to the spot & finish there.

“Before the dash we rushed to put a new wing on and started 2nd and also finished there.”

Going into the feature, Kaleb would roll off from the 2nd spot. He quickly jumped out to the lead & would pull away. After leading tbe first 15 laps, he would get caught up behind a lapped car & DJ Netto was able to slip by & grab the lead.

A caution came out & bunched the field back up. Kaleb took the lead back on the restart but DJ was able to get back by on the following lap. DJ would pull away but get caught up with a lapped car on lap 28 & spin. Kaleb would inherit the lead & hold off Rickey Sanders to grab the win!

“Starting second in the main I got to the lead on the first lap and lead about the first 15 or so laps. DJ passed me when I got held up behind a lapped car and I passed him back for one lap after a restart,” Kaleb added. “DJ got tangled up with a lapped car on lap 28 giving me the lead back. From there we battled hard with Rickey Sanders and got the win!“

Kaleb put together his best night of the 2023 season. It was his first win of the year & he continues to have a fast car every time he hits the track. Despite grabbing the win, Kaleb remains hungry to get some more wins under his belt this year.

“We had a lot of speed all night but couldn’t keep the speed I wanted late in the feature. We were fast but we are always looking for more speed. Need to watch more videos from Cali Dirt Video & Go Pro’s to keep learning from our mistakes.“

Kaleb would like to thank his sponsors on the #3; Luxton Real Estate, Bullseye, and David Crye.
