Kaleb Montgomery Captures First Win Aboard Keller Motorsports Ride!

BY: Chris Santos

9/19/22…Hanford California: Thursday Night, Kaleb Montgomery & the Keller Motorsports #2k team would make the trip to Keller Auto Speedway to run with the Kings of Thunder Winged 360 Sprint Cars. A very strong field of 36 Winged 360 Sprint cars would make the trip to open up a double header weekend in Hanford.

The night would start off with qualifying for Kaleb, he would go out and lay down a very good lap. That lap would put him quick time & would end up potentially being a Winged 360 track record at the 3/8 mile oval. “Thursday started off good. We had strong pace all night. We got quick time overall and a possible new track record.“

In his heat race, he would roll off from the 4th position, just needing to finish top-5 to make the redraw. Kaleb was able to carry over his speed from qualifying as he would quickly get himself into the 2nd position. Unfortunately he could not track down the leader as he would finish 2nd and lock himself into the redraw.

For the redraw he would pull the two, meaning he would start on the outside of row 1 in the 2nd spot. Early on he would make some mistakes putting him back to 3rd. However a caution would come out with just 5 to go as leader Corey Day would come to a stop with issues. On that same caution second running Carson Macedo would have engine issues ending his night as well.

All of a sudden, Kaleb would go from third to first on the ensuing restart. He would get a great start pulling away from second running Mitchell Faccinto before a caution would come out. With just 4 to go, Kaleb would once again get a great start and pull away from Faccinto. This time it would be enough as he would go on & win the feature event.

“Started off the main a little sloppy with mistakes but ended of coming out on top due to misfortunes of other drivers.”

Friday Night, Kaleb would return to the Keller Auto Speedway, looking to carry his Thursday momentum into the Friday Night race. A strong field of 32 Winged 410 Sprint Cars would pack the pit area ready to go with the Greatest Show on Dirt for their sole visit to the Keller Auto Speedway.

Kaleb would once again show speed in qualifying. He would go out on a treacherous Keller Auto Speedway surface and lay down a solid lap, ending up 12th quick out of 32 Winged 410 Sprint Cars. “With the outlaws the night started off better than it has before with them. Qualified 12th.“

His heat race would see him roll off from the inside of row 2 in the 3rd starting position. Starting 3rd, Kaleb would struggle in the heat race. He would fall back into the 5th position, but hold on to take the final transfer spot & make the show. “Went backwards in the heat but still transferred.“

The Friday Night feature would see Kaleb start on the Outside of row 10 in the 20th position. The track would be very slick & Kaleb would struggle with the setup. With around 15 to go he would pull off and end his night early bringing home a 25th place finish. “ In the main we pulled off around 15 because we need to fix our motor package up a little bit for the slick. Other than that it was a great weekend.”

It was a great weekend for Kaleb aboard the Keller Motorsports #2k machine. He would get them just their 2nd ever Winged 360 Sprint Car win & was able to put it into the show with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.
