8/9/23… Watsonville, California: Friday Night, Kaleb Montgomery was back in action at Ocean Speedway with the Taco Bravo Sprint Cars. He ended up putting together another great night, which resulted in a 2nd place finish.
He kicked the night off with time trials. Going out as the 18th car to hit the track, Kaleb was able to lay down a very good lap. That lap ended up being good enough to time Kaleb in quick time out of 22 Winged 360 Sprint Cars.
That put him on the outside of the second row in the 4th starting spot for the feature. Starting 4th, Kaleb would end up finishing there & making the dash. In the dash, Kaleb rolled off from 4th & would also finish there.
“Friday Night started off great. After hot laps I could feel that I had the confidence within me and the car. We went and got quick time and did our job in the heat to get our time back putting us into the dash. In the dash we started 4th and finished there.“
Kaleb would roll off from the 4th spot for the feature event. Starting 4th, Kaleb was able to quickly get into 2nd. Once in 2nd, Kaleb would roll around in the 2nd spot as he tried to reel in the leader. When the checkered flag fell, Kaleb would settle for 2nd.
“Come feature time, we were a second place car all night and Joey (Ancona) was killing all of us until the rubber came in. I need to do my job and study the car this week so we can be better next weekend!
It was another good night for Kaleb. He continues to come close to grabbing his first Winged Sprint Car win of the season. He will try again this Friday & Saturday Night as he takes on Ocean Speedway & Placerville Speedway.
