Kaleb Montgomery Comes Up Short of Feature Appearance in Trophy Cup Finale!

By: Fast Time Media

10/24/23… Tulare, California: Thursday, Friday, & Saturday Night, Kaleb Montgomery was in action at the Tulare Thunderbowl as he took on the 29th annual Trophy Cup. In what was maybe the biggest race of the season out west, the competition would be tough as a 65 car field would fill out the Tulare Thunderbowl pit area.

“I felt really comfortable, really confident in myself & the race car. We were racing with really good guys, it felt like I had a lot of speed & a lot of confidence in the car. Trophy Cup wasnt the one we wanted but it’s the one we got.”

The weekend started out on Thursday Night, where Kaleb timed the #3 in 6th quickest. With the track slowing down, he’d run a diamon line in 1 & 2. He’d hit his marks well & lay down a lap of 14.410. Going into the heat race, he’d be one of the high points guys in the heat. Kaleb rolled off from 5th, but struggled on a greasy track & finished in 6th. Going out for the B-main, he would start & finish 7th, ending his night one.

Going into Night Two, Kaleb looked to have a much better night. He began the night timing in 16th quickest in his group after being one of the final cars out in Group B. He’d roll off from the 3rd spot, but had a tough heat race & would ultimately finish 6th. Kaleb would be put deep in the B-main where he’d roll off from 13th but would begin charging. He was making his way forwards & got to 5th before an incident with another driver would send him spinning & bring his B-main to an end.

“We actually made a lot of forward momentum on the race car in the B-main, but got in an incident & it didn’t workout how we wanted it to,” Kaleb added. “It felt like we made a lot of headway in the B going 13th to 5th & felt like we had a car to transfer.”

Kaleb entered the final night 35th in the points & had some spots to makeup. He’d start the night out nicely in his heat race. After some tight battles with Bloomfield & Ancona, Kaleb would get the best of them both & finish 2nd. That slated him to start the B-main from 9th. On the initial start, he’d fall back to 11th. Kaleb would make his way back up to 8th, but the B-main would end there & he’d miss out on a transfer spot.

Overall, it was an interesting weekend for Kaleb. They definitely had the speed to put the car in the feature all three nights, but track conditions & track position would be a big reason his results don’t show that. Despite not getting the results they wanted, a ton of positives came out of this weekend.

Kaleb would like to thank his sponsors on the #3; Luxton Real Estate, Bullseye, and David Crye.
