6/29/23… Watsonville, California: Friday & Saturday Night, Kaleb Montgomery was in action. On Friday he was in action at Ocean Speedway with the Taco Bravo Winged 360 Sprint Cars. On Saturday Night, they’d take the wings off & he would be in action with the USAC CRA Sprint Cars at Bakersfield Speedway.
Friday Night would begin with qualifying, where he would be the 7th car out in qualifying aboard the Keller Motorsports number 2K. He ended up laying down a time of 11.278 & going 2nd quickest overall. That put him starting 4th in the heat race & finishing 3rd, locking him into the dash. In the dash, Kaleb rolled off from the outside front row & finished 3rd.
“On Friday at Watsonville we started out the night with a solid 2nd quick in qualifying. In the heat we managed a 3rd to get our time back.”
That started Kaleb third in the feature event. Rolling off from 3rd, he would fall in line in 3rd. Second running Caeden Steele would get in an incident & end his night. Kaleb would take over 2nd & finish the feature there.
“In the feature we started 3rd and ended up getting 2nd after the 121 had an incident.”
Saturday, Kaleb would be in action with the USAC CRA Sprint Cars at Bakersfield Speedway. He began the night with qualifying where he ended up 5th quick. In the heat race, Kaleb rolled off from 5th & would finish in the 4th spot.
“The night started off average with a 5th quick in qualifying. It was a new track for me so I don’t think I found the limit right off the bat. In the heat we started 5th and snuck by 4th with 2 laps to go to get our time back.”
Kaleb started the feature on the outside front row in 2nd. He got the jump & would lead lap one. On lap two, Kaleb fell back to 3rd. He would ride there for most of the race. Kaleb would then fall to 4th late & finish the feature there.
“In the main we started 2nd and got the early jump to lead the first lap. On lap 2 we instantly went back to 3rd and road there for most of the main until I got greedy in the rubber and lost a spot to bender.“
