7/5/23… Antioch, California: Saturday Night, Kaleb Montgomery was back in action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Antioch Speedway. He would put together a pretty solid night, as Kaleb brought home a 6th place finish.
The night started out with qualifying, as Kaleb was the 4th car to hit the track in group number one. Going out early, Kaleb laid down a good lap. With a time of 13.333, Kaleb ended up 2nd quickest in group number one.
“At Antioch we started off the night a little slow with a second quick in the group. That means we had to win the heat.”
Kaleb would line up on the inside of the front row on the pole of his heat race. Starting 1st, Kaleb needed to win the heat race to make the dash. He did just that as he won the heat race from the pole & locked into the dash.
In the dash, Kaleb rolled off from the outside of row three in the 6th position. Starting 6th, Kaleb would try to gain as many spots as possible to improve his starting spot. Kaleb made his way forward to the 3rd spot where he finished the dash.
“Starting first in the heat, we got the job done from there. In the dash we started 6th and managed to finish third because of other peoples misfortunes.”
That lined Kaleb up on the inside of row two in the 3rd spot. Starting 3rd, Kaleb battled a hard fought feature event. He kept himself inside the top-5, as he battled restart after restart. When the checkered flag fell, Kaleb finished the feature event in 6th.
“In the main we started 3rd and sucked on every single one of the 10 restarts we had and lost positions on each one. In the end we managed to pull together a 6th place run. Not the night I really wanted but we will learn from it and come back stronger on the next one.”
Kaleb had another solid night of racing on Saturday Night. He continues to put together a good string of finishes over the past month.
