4/11/23... Hanford California: Saturday Night, Kaleb Montgomery & the Keller Motorsports #2K Team would make the trip to Kings Speddway to kick off the 2023 NARC season. The competition would be tough, as Thirty of California's best would be in action ready to roll on Saturday.
Kaleb would kick the night off with qualifying, where he would head out early. Out of thirty cars, it was gonna be tough to stay at the top of the charts. However, Kaleb would be able to stay towards the top, as he would end up 10th quick overall & set himself up nicely for the heat race.
"I believe I went 10th quick out of 30 cars."
That would line Kaleb up on the outside of the front row for his heat race. Unfortunately Kaleb would make an early mistake. The leader would get the initial jump & Kaleb would try to slide him in turns 1&2. However, Kaleb would drive it to deep & get sideways. He would save it but fall backwards. He would hold on to take home the 4th & final transfer spot.
"That put me starting 2nd in the heat," Kaleb said. "I made a critical mistake in turn 1 that put me back to 4th."
For the feature event, Kaleb would be scheduled to start 12th. However with the driver in the row in front of him scratching, Kaleb would roll off from 10th. He would fall back early but was able to battle back into the top-10. He would spend a lot of the feature battling hard with Bud Kaeding, before finishing the feature in 10th.
"Started 12th in the feature but got moved up a row starting me 10th. I went back off the start because I wasn’t up on the wheel," Kaleb added. "I managed to crawl my way back up to 10th! Felt pretty good to be racing with bud keading in the 410 main!"
It was a good start to the 2023 NARC campaign for Kaleb & the Keller Motorsports Team. They would have consistent speed all night & will continue to get better as the season goes on.
